Martin and John of GodI'm often asked, "What makes a guy who's been in a wheelchair for more than 30 years, suddenly want to walk?"

The short answer is, until I visited the Casa de Dom Inácio - a spiritual healing centre in Abadiânia, central Brazil, I had no idea walking again was within my reach. Let me explain...

"João de Deus"

Here, for over 40 years, João Teixeira de Faria, a gifted and powerful medium known as "João de Deus" (John of God) has helped countless people achieve apparently miraculous healings - of cancer, AIDS, paraplegia, blindness and many other seemingly "incurable" illnesses.

I regularly visit the Casa where treatment is free and no person is turned away, regardless of their position or need.

John of GodBrazil is predominantly a Catholic country where Brazilians also practice, and firmly believe in, spiritism - a belief that our spirit exists before, during, and after our physical life on earth, and that it is possible to communicate with spirits and access God's healing energy.

God’s energy, however, is too powerful for humans to handle and we therefore need intermediaries like Jesus Christ, Angels, benevolent Entities (highly evolved spirits) and mediums, such as João de Deus who allow their bodies to be used as “human transformers” through whom Divine healing energy is delivered.

At the Casa, I discovered the true meaning of Faith, hope and love... and more importantly, how I might heal myself, and help others in the process. Here I found the inspiration and confidence to revisit my healing. Martin's Miracle was born at the Casa.

Miracles happen every day at the Casa.

Nonetheless, the idea that a bunch of dead doctors (who I now appreciate are benevolent Spirits, also called Entities) were healing living people of incurable diseases and performing medically-impossible surgeries at the Casa de Dom Inácio was just so “out there” for me.

The results, however, speak for themself. People are cured.

Think & Walk

Since visiting the Casa, I have come to appreciate what Napoleon Hill meant when he wrote, 'Think and Grow Rich' – a classic motivational book.

Hill says, “What a man believes, he can create.”

It never occurred to me, prior to visiting the Casa, to believe that I COULD walk again. Instead I chose to believe what the doctors told me.

I used to believe that my paraplegia was just something I had to live with for ever.

Then another spiritual explorer to the Casa, called Doreen from Devon said to me, “So I suppose you’re here to walk again and get out of that wheelchair.”

… and without thinking, I instinctively replied, “Yes that’s right.”

It was the first time in 30 years that someone had ever raised the possibility of my walking again where I didn’t believe they were totally nuts!

Since then I have become very interested in how what we think and believe, influences what we experience in our lives.

I am discovering that we all have the ability (we were born with it) to ASK and RECEIVE whatever we want in our lives. This for me is a key part of Martin's Miracle Therapy.

To paraphrase, Napoleon Hill, I choose to Think and Walk Again.

Miracle Man - John of God DVD

John of God DVDOn my first trip to the Casa de Dom Inácio in October 2004 I met Bill Hayes and his TV crew from Advanced Medical Productions. They were producing a film about the Miracle Man – John of God for the Discovery Channel in the States.

I was interviewed and am featured in this excellent documentary which has really helped me to show and tell others what I discovered in Brazil. I am delighted to recommend it to you and the DVD can be ordered from www.figure8films.tv/shows/jog.htm

Meanwhile, here is the Producer’s synopsis of the Miracle Man – John of God.

"Just outside the small town of Abadiânia, Brazil, one of the most unusual people in the world is about to see a group of strangers dressed in white. He is known to westerners as John of God. They call him a spiritual medium, trance surgeon, healer and miracle worker. What he does and how he does it defies conventional logic.

For over 40 years, John of God has received visitors as a doctor might receive patients. Even though he is not a doctor and has no formal schooling beyond the fourth grade, he has performed countless physical operations – for free. He uses no anaesthesia and patients report little pain. He scraps eyes, inserts surgical clamps up noses and makes incisions with simple instruments – all while he is supposedly taken over by spirits. There is very little bleeding, few reports of infections and numerous reports of improved health – both spiritually and physically.

John of God says that God and over 30 compassionate spirits are working through him and he does not remember what he did once he comes out of his trance. We watch him perform these unusual surgeries and follow several people from around the world with various physical problems as they seek help from him and the spirit world.

Laura Van Wagner from Maui has come to John of God to treat a life threatening cancer. Her lymphoma is causing rapid tumour growth in her throat. Kristy First was paralyzed in a car accident in Florida and wants to regain the use of her legs. Roland Nip from Honolulu has been diagnosed with defective heart valve. Izzy Zalcberg, who suffers from depression has travelled from Chicago to Brazil with his wife who has been diagnosed with an incurable cancer. Lynn Debenham, the south of England, will undergo a physical surgery to remove a tumour on her back.

Doctors, as well as patients, are constantly travelling to Brazil to observe the man who can reportedly heal others using spiritual assistance. Reverend Doug Busby, MD from LaPorte, Indiana is a doctor who specializes in preventive medicine. For him, John of God may hold the key to connecting the world of prayer and healing. Philip Bechtel, MD is a neurosurgeon from Fort Worth, Texas who has been to see John of God eleven times. He operates on the deadliest of brain tumours and is looking for a means to help his desperately ill patients. These two highly respected medical doctors have not only observed John of God on several occasions, they have assisted him with surgery. They offer their opinions as to what might be occurring at the healing centre known as the Casa de Dom Inácio."

A Course in Miracles

MiraclesAs I began to wonder how I might participate in my own miracle healing, answers to my thoughts began to appear in my life; somehow I was more aware as pieces of what I call my miracle jig-saw began to show up in my daily experiences.

One such piece is called 'A Course in Miracles'.

This piece of my “miracle jig-saw” came about after observing a woman at the Casa who was in a wheelchair (why, I am not sure, but I do not believe she had a spinal cord injury).

I would often run into this lady while she was trying to walk in the parallel bars, in the Casa’s beautiful gardens.

On my second trip to the Casa I saw the same woman again, both in the parallel bars, and around the Casa. On this occasion I noticed her reading what looked like a bible. She was a very private person and kept herself to herself so I never got to talk with her, just a nodding hello as we passed by one another.

I later discovered that what I thought was a bible was in fact a book called 'A Course in Miracles'.

Next time I saw her I was overjoyed to see she was walking behind her wheelchair, leaning on it and using it for support rather like a walking frame.

Some days later, I saw this same woman walking unaided WITHOUT her wheelchair. I was so happy for her. At this point I realised that maybe I should find out more about the book she had been reading.

The book, 'A Course in Miracles', is a step-by-step, self-study course that was channelled by Jesus. Published by the Foundation for Inner Peace, it is a unique, universal, self-study spiritual thought system that also teaches the way to love and inner peace.

You can find out more at the Foundation for Peace web site – www.acim.org

I ordered my copy from Amazon.co.uk where there are some great customer reviews. Do take a look.

Most good bookshops should stock 'A Course in Miracles' or be able to order a copy. I know there is a paperback version, but the lady I saw had the hardback which comprises three parts – Text, Workbook for Students and the Manual for Teachers.

I bought this version and am very glad I did. The workbook takes a year (365 daily lessons) and is fabulous, albeit very hard word at times.

I gave up on my first attempt. Not like me I have to say, but I now realise that it was not the right time for me to take the course. Now clearly is. Cost £30.

Please do not let this put you off, persevere. You’ll be glad you did.

......and please remember miracles happen everyday, so expect success!
