Oxygen TherapyNo this isn't an outside toilet. It's a Hyperbaric Oxygen Tank. Originally the domain of divers recovering from decompression sickness ("the bends), today Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) offers real hope for many "hopeless" conditions.

The idea is really simple.

Oxygen makes life possible. It is our "life force." It can be used therapeutically where tissues have been damaged by oxygen depravation. Restore that oxygen and you can restore much of the lost function.

That's it. So all joking aside, please DO NOT dismiss these somewhat "bizarre" looking pictures as "not for you." I believe...Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is the most exciting non-invasive, safe, and inexpensive therapy that can HEAL and RESTORE FUNCTION for people with a wide range of neurological injuries.

  • Autism
  • Diabetes
  • Stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Brain injury
  • Learning disabilities
  • Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS)
  • Alzheimer's
  • Parkinson's
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • ...and many more. I urge you to check it out for yourself.

From what I've read I believe HBOT can seriously reduce the risk of, and potentially reverse paralysis in acute spinal cord injury. I'm not a doctor, but it does seem to me that if HBOT is administered within hours of the accident to newly-injured paraplegics and quadriplegics it could significantly alter the outcome, prevent long term paralysis and expensive medical costs in the chronic stage, long term.

I am fortunate that here in the UK, HBOT is available to me through the excellent network of Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centres across Britain. People with MS report improved bladder control, better balance and more energy after receiving regular HBOT.

Oxygen TherapyAlthough this is a new therapy and I've come to it 33 years post injury (definitely chronic), I've committed to receive daily Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. It is easy, painless and very relaxed. I simply sit in the Hyperbaric Oxygen Tank featured in these pictures and breathe oxygen under pressure through a pilot-style oxygen mask, at an atmosphere of 24 feet below sea level.

Don't worry, there's no water so no need to bring your trunks. I wear my sweats and a t-shirt and read a book or meditate while receiving a one hour treatment. I am confident that HBOT complements my Giger exercise therapy to reorganise my central nervous system.

Watch this page for updates of my progress with HBOT.
